Suzanne Mubarak to Arab International Women's Forum: Obtaining Woman's Full Rights Demands Effective Policies

06/13/05 -- Madame Suzanne Mubarak, wife of the president of the republic, stated that woman's obtaining her full rights demands adoption of various practical policies, and turning toward pragmatic, effective programs. It is absolutely necessary to help those programs for rural women which obtain them education and technical skills, and encourage them, and offer them opportunity to establish small commercial enterprises.

Her remarks appeared in a personal letter she sent to the Arab International Women's Forum on the occasion of the convening of the Cairo Conference on the Role of Rural Women in Integrated Development, which began at the headquarters of the secretary-general of the Arab League yesterday. She added that it is incumbent upon us to discuss increasing of micro-capital financial backing.*

In related news, Madame Mubarak participated in the meeting of the supreme council for organizing Arabic Women in Manama yesterday, then left the Bahraini capital, returning to Cairo, as Sheika Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the Emir of Bahrain, presented her farewells in the airport.

Sheika Sabika stated in that meeting that the phase the Arab region is passing through calls for an understanding of a different type and manner of association of women, and that the association in the meeting held the firm resolve to arrive at the summits of success and participation of women.
